Coconut blancmange is a flagship dessert of the West Indies. It is a flan made with coconut milk and vanilla.
As a side note, blancmange coco is also a famous board game.
Preparation of blancmange coco
1. Heat 500ml of milk over low heat with a little sugar in a saucepan
. 2. Pour the coconut blancmange powder into the milk and whisk well.
3. Add the spices of your choice: nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, bitter almond, orange blossom water.
4. Continue heating over low heat until it just begins to simmer.
5. Pour the mixture into a flan mold and let it set.
6. Leave in the mold at room temperature for 30 minutes.
7. Place the mold in the refrigerator for 1 hour, then in the freezer for 1 hour, and finally back in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Tip: for an extra touch of indulgence, you can add grated coconut to the mixture.
Coconut blancmange is a dessert that takes a long time to make, even a very long time if the coconut milk is homemade. This recipe allows some to save time and others to discover this Creole delicacy.
